The winner of the NAWMA (Northern Area Waste Management Authority) Award for the textile piece best depicting the theme of Reduce., Re-use and Recycle from the July Quilting Exhibition was Margaret Howse with her quilt called "The Unworn Parts" which was made of denim pieces and pockets.
NAWMA (alias Theresa) said she thought that as the denim had been originally used to keep a body warm, it was only fitting that it has now been re-used in a quilt to keep another body warm. This quilt is hanging in the Gallery and is for sale.
The winners of the beautiful raffle quilts were Jane Jansen and Judy Ferguson, who are delighted with their prizes.
The Gawler Community Gallery is located in the Station Master's House at the Gawler Railway Station, Twenty Third Street, Gawler South, South Australia and is run entirely by Volunteers.
